Street Pastors in Swindon

Street Pastors in Swindon
Street Pastors is an exciting new venture providing a prayerful Christian presence
on the streets near the pubs and clubs of our town between the hours of 10pm and
4am. Already in 11 cities up and down the country as well as over a third of the
London boroughs, Street Pastors is beginning to have an effect on the street crime
statistics in the areas where it operates.

Inspector Ian Bamber of Swindon Police says, "Ultimately it's about having another
uniformed presence in the town. Because of the Police's role in enforcement, people
on a night out associate us with arresting people, but the pastors should be a more
neutral presence. On the places where it has already been implemented, the crime
reduction figures look really promising."

Street Pastors are not there to enforce the law, but work at getting alongside those
who are vulnerable so that they don't become the next crime victim.
